request for review for the public body.

OIPC Procedure

We opened this case as of May 20, 2026. Due to case volumes, it may be several months before
this file is assigned to an investigator. Your file may be identified as a candidate for our early
resolution process. If so, a case review officer will be assigned to resolve your file. When this
file is assigned, the investigator or case review officer will notify you and will mediate the
request for review.

The purpose of mediation is to facilitate a settlement of the issues and ensure that the
applicant has received access to all records to which they are entitled under FIPPA. The file may
proceed to inquiry if the parties are unable to reach a settlement. The investigator has the
delegated authority to decide whether or not all or part of a matter should proceed to inquiry.
If an inquiry is held, an OIPC adjudicator will consider the issues in dispute and issue a binding
order.
