WV. Clinical Disability & The Sunday "Shutdown"

The cumulative "Acoustic Load" resulted in a total neurological collapse on Sunday, Jan 25
2026:

e Loss of Life Amenities: | was physically incapacitated and unable to take my
daughter swimming.

e Allostatic Overload: My nervous system reached a breaking point, requiring 12
hours of recovery sleep and preventing me from completing professional studies (had
to use a sick day on Monday, Jan 26).

e Current Status: | suffer from hyperacusis (painful sensitivity to sound), which makes
everyday environments agonizing

V. The "Safety Paradox" of the Control Room

As of next week, | am being moved to the Control Room (On-the-Job training). This presents
a critical challenge to my recovery and workplace safety:

e The Communication Barrier: Because my role requires monitoring radios, verbal
coordination, and alarms, standard hearing protection is not a viable solution.
Wearing foam or plastic plugs to protect my traumatized ears would render me
unable to hear life-safety information, creating a secondary safety risk.

e The Catch-22: My ears require "Acoustic Rest” to heal from the trauma inflicted by
the server rack, yet the control room environment (fans, radios, voices) acts as a
constant irritant to my hyper-sensitive auditory nerve.

e Employer Responsibility: Because the employer's initial negligence (the unshielded
server) caused this hyper-sensitivity, the employer now bears the burden of providing
a workspace where | can communicate safely without further damaging my health.

VI. Conclusion & Request for Action

| am no longer a "healthy worker" in a "normal" environment. | am an injured worker whose
auditory system is in a state of hyper-vigilance due to a documented engineering failure. |
request:

1. Immediate adjudication of this claim based on the provided technical data and prior
notice.

2. Medical accommodation that allows for "Acoustic Sanctuary" (regular silent breaks).

3. Provision of Active/Electronic Hearing Protection that filters hazardous peaks
while allowing speech/alarms to pass through, as standard PPE is currently
insufficient for my clinical condition and safety requirements.
