Grant us authorization If you haven't already done so, please give us authorization to ask health care providers and your employer(s) for personal information relevant only to this claim. Communicate with your employer and with us You and your employer are required to cooperate with each other and with WorkSafeBC throughout your claim. If you have any concerns about communicating with your employer, please contact us as soon as possible. Stay in contact with your employer during your recovery. Share how you're doing and discuss activities you can do. e If you’re away from work, call your employer regularly to share your progress and ask about participating in training or other staff events. When appropriate, expand those check-ins to discuss any modified duties, alternate work, or modified hours that would be safe for you as you recover. With time and healing, your abilities and function will likely increase, leading to new offers of suitable work from your employer — so ongoing conversations are key. Understand your treatment options and when they may be covered e If you pay for any treatment for your injury while your claim is pending, we may be able to provide reimbursement. If your claim is accepted, contact your treatment provider to request reimbursement. They will normally bill us directly at our contract rates. e Once a claim is accepted, we pay for health care that is reasonably necessary to treat the accepted injury. To help ensure your treatment may be covered: e Contact us if you're receiving or considering more than one type of medical treatment. WorkSafeBC does not necessarily pay for multiple treatments at the same time. e If you visit a treatment provider who has not contracted with us, you will have to pay for your visit and seek reimbursement from us. If your reimbursement request is approved, you will be repaid at our set rate for that treatment and will be responsible for paying any difference. e Keep your receipts for any prescriptions, counselling sessions, and other goods or services related to your claim, as we may be able to reimburse you.
