PERSONAL IMPACT STATEMENT β€” MARK HOLAND β€” WorkSafeBC Claim

On February 2 | was so destabilised β€” irritable, anxious, overwhelmed β€” that | wanted to leave
my own home so | would not frighten my daughter or burden my wife.

| was experiencing what | now understand to be an autistic meltdown compounded by PTSD. |
am undiagnosed autistic. My nervous system processed three weeks of server noise exposure
differently than a neurotypical person would. What colleagues may have experienced as an
annoyance, my nervous system experienced as a sustained physiological assault. An autism
diagnosis is now a clinical and occupational necessity β€” | cannot safely return to work without
understanding my limitations and what accommodations | require.

| was very close to seeking emergency mental health care. | have since attended WCB-provided
counselling.

Physical Decline and Failure to Receive Adequate Care

Since January | have lost approximately one pound per week. | am 5'9" and currently
approximately 155 Ibs. | have no appetite. My blood pressure and heart rate are abnormally low.
| experience dizziness and tremors. |! have documented absence of REM sleep on my Garmin
device.

Camera footage of my sleep shows abnormal movement activity every few minutes throughout
the night β€” full body repositioning, tremors, facial movements, variable breathing. | have
conducted my own sleep studies. This footage has been submitted to WorkSafeBC.

| used to do the Grouse Grind. | am now exhausted walking up a small hill.

A hearing test on January 30 at Amplifon Clinic Surrey showed a 10db drop at 8khz in my left
ear compared to a September 2025 baseline. | have attended emergency four times and

multiple GP appointments. | have received no diagnosis despite persistent left ear pain since
January 23. On March 4, 2026 | was turned down for rapid access care at St. Paul's Hospital.

| have been told to wait. | have been sent home. | have told emergency room physicians that |
am slowly dying. | have been dismissed at every turn. The delay in taking my case seriously has
allowed my condition to deteriorate week by week. | believe the expectation was that my
symptoms would resolve on their own. They have not. They have worsened.

The Logic Failure

What haunts me as much as the injury itself is the complete failure of logic that created this
situation.

There is a room directly behind the wall of the training room. Put the server there. Install it
correctly β€” three feet from the wall for proper air circulation, proper electrical load, fire
suppression, permits pulled. Done. Problem never exists.

Instead, someone placed two refrigerator-sized server racks in an active training room, two feet
from a student's head, panel missing, fans overloading circuits, a portable fan on a windowsill,
cables through an open ceiling panel, no fire suppression. What happens when WorkSafeBC
