OMC1 Simulation Room Noise Survey — - 3 - 2044.20383.2026

1 INTRODUCTION

BC Rapid Transit Company (BCRTC) commissioned Arcose Consulting Ltd. (Arcose) to
conduct a noise survey in a training simulation room of the Operations and Maintenance
Centre 1 (OMC 1), in response to a worker noise complaint.

2 SCOPE OF WORK

Based on our understanding of the project, the following scope of services was carried out:

Conducted spot noise measurements in OMC1 training simulation room.

Data logged measurements in OMC1 training simulation room.

Created noise maps using sampling data.

Provided this written report documenting our findings and recommendations based
on noise data collected.

3 METHODOLOGY

The noise survey was completed by Arcose representative William Wu, Dip (OHS), CRST
on March 6, 2026.

Noise measurements were collected in accordance with CSA Z107.56. A TSI SoundPro
DL-1 (Integrated SLM type 1) was used to collect spot and datalogging measurements. The
TSI SoundPro DL-1 SLM was pre-calibrated by Pine Environmental and subsequently
calibrated by Arcose with a 3M QC-10 sound calibrator to 114 dB at 1000 Hz prior to
taking spot measurements, and post-calibrated upon completion of sampling. The SLM
was set to collect A-weighted measurements, with a slow response, and a 3dB exchange
rate. Additionally, C-weighted measurements (set with fast response) were collected
simultaneously while collecting A-weighted measurements.

All field work and reporting were completed under the supervision of Terence Tang, CRSP,
CIH.

4 REGULATIONS, EXPOSURE LIMITS, AND HEALTH EFFECTS

Noise is defined as any unwanted sound. Noise exposure limits are identified in the
WorkSafeBC Occupational Health and Safety Regulations in Part 7 Section 7.2 — Noise
Exposure Limits.

There are two different noise exposure limits enforced by WorkSafeBC:

e 8-hour Lex daily noise exposure regulating the average exposure level a worker can
be exposed to during an 8-hour work day.
