Subjective:

- Occupational exposure to industrial-sized servers installed without permits at workplace in January;
seated directly in front of servers with exposed side panel and open ceiling panel for approximately 10
hours daily over 8 days

- Bilateral ear pain developed following exposure; severe in left ear, less severe in right ear

- Right ear has since healed; left ear continues to have pain in the ear canal

- Seen by Dr. Samad Idris (otolaryngology) in May in New Westminster; recommended muscle
relaxant for 1-2 months

- Has been taking muscle relaxant for almost 2 months; pain persists

- Self-management: self-massage, heat application, daily sauna use

- Migraines have resolved with self-management strategies

- Audiologist from WCB attempted to attribute symptoms to migraines; however, migraines have
cleared while ear pain persists

- Reports autistic sensory profile (undiagnosed); emergency physician at Royal Columbia in January
suggested symptoms likely sensory-related

- Has been reducing sensory input

- Significant dental wear from clenching; extra bone growth in lower jaw

- Was planning to obtain custom night guard from dentist; terminated from employment while on
medical leave, lost benefits

Past Medical History:
- History of migraines
- Autistic sensory profile (undiagnosed)

Objective:
- Otoscopy: Left ear appears normal
- Audiometry: Normal
