VIOLATION 1 — UNPERMITTED INSTALLATION

A search of the City of Burnaby permit records for 6800 14 Ave reveals no building permit,
electrical permit, or mechanical permit associated with this server rack installation.

| wish to note that permit records prior to January 2025 are not accessible through the
standard Burnaby permit search web interface, which defaults to a one year lookback. Records
dating to January 2024 were obtained by accessing the underlying data directly via the web
application's API endpoint. A search limited to the standard public interface would not have
surfaced the full permit history for this address. No permits for this installation were found in
either the standard interface or the extended records accessed via the API.

The installation of two large server racks in an occupied commercial training room constitutes
a material change to the electrical load, thermal load, and fire safety profile of that space.
Under the BC Building Code and the Burnaby Building Bylaw, a building permit is required for
any work that materially changes the use or safety systems of a commercial occupancy.

No permit means:

- No drawings were submitted or approved

- No electrical load calculations were reviewed
- No fire safety impact was assessed

- No inspector ever signed off on the installation

They appear to have simply plugged the racks in.

VIOLATION 2 — FIRESTOPPING VIOLATION — BC BUILDING CODE SECTION 3.1.9

Cables from the server racks pass through an open ceiling panel with no firestopping material
applied.
